FOS Data Sees Spike In Investment Complaints

During the pandemic, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) saw a steady increase in the volume of complaints and queries being raised by consumers.

FOS Complaint Figures

The figures from January to June 2022 indicate the following:

  • In H1 2022, approx. 73,000 complaints were handled
  • 37% of complaints were upheld in favor of the consumer
  • The banking and credit sectors had 44,200 complaints raised against them
  • 212 firms had complaints filed against them compared to 216 in H2 2021
  • There was no change to the upheld rate for the two periods
