Commission seeks advice on EU FinTech sector and its players

The European Commission has published a call for tenders for a service contract to conduct a study on the Fintech sector with a total price that cannot exceed 350 000 Euros.

The study is entitled “Overview of the European Finch sector (SMART 2016/0042) and the objective of the contract is to better understand the fintech sector and its players and to evaluate its impact on the banking sector and financial services industry and its incumbent players.

This study will:

  • describe the key European players and their position in the global context, their innovative technology and business models and their potential impact on current regulation.
  •  propose various scenarios for the future of the financial services industry and the role of fintech companies and of EU policymaking and regulation in that context.
  • identify specific issues to be solved in relation to digital single market, the Capital Markets Union, retail banking and other related EU policy initiatives.
